The Department of Sanitation does not discriminate based on any protected category in the operation of its programs, services, and activities, and strives to be welcoming to and inclusive of all people.

It is the policy of the Department of Sanitation to ensure full compliance with nondiscrimination laws in all programs and activities. The Department is responsible for coordination of compliance efforts and receipt of inquiries concerning the non-discrimination requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; the Age Discrimination Act of 1975; Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990; and other applicable non-discrimination laws, including the New York State Human Rights Law, and the New York City Human Rights Law.
