NYC Agencies and Nonprofits

All New York City agencies and nonprofit institutions are required to recycle. We provide curbside recycling collection to these organizations in tax-exempt buildings.

Collection Service

Qualifying agencies and nonprofits can request new DSNY collection services.

Agencies and nonprofits receiving recycling collection service from private carters must follow business recycling requirements.

Containerization

Beginning November 12, 2024, all NYC agencies must set out their trash in bins.

Agencies will have two options to comply:

  • Agencies may procure Official NYC Bins to containerize all trash.
  • Agencies may procure tilt trucks to containerize all trash.

If you are not sure which option your agency chose, contact your agency's procurement office.

All Mayoral and non-Mayoral agencies are required to designate a Recycling/Sustainability Coordinator for each of their sites and submit a recycling plan and annual report.
