Malissa Ifill is the Director of Communications and Speechwriting, a Communications and Marketing professional with several years of experience. She is responsible for shaping and implementing a communication plan that propels the city's equity agenda forward. In direct collaboration with the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners, and key stakeholders, Malissa crafts messages and identifies both local and international platforms to amplify NYC's mission for equity. She is also our press and social media liaison, crafting press releases and advisories to social media assets and written pieces; Malissa helps connect local to global by ensuring the city's message is delivered effectively and meaningfully to diverse audiences across multiple platforms.
In her prior role at the NYC Department of Education, Malissa was a Senior Editor and Content Strategist. Before joining the DOE, Malissa was Deputy Director of Marketing for the Administration for Children's Services, where she effectively managed diverse campaigns and budgets, ensuring the selection of inclusive vendors. Her passion for communication and public service extends to her educational background. She has a Master's in Public Administration from Metropolitan College of NY, a Bachelor of Science in Communication Arts from St. John's University, and a Certification in Public Relations Strategy from Cornell University.
A native of Guyana, S.A., Malissa now resides in Brooklyn, NY.
