Shaffiou Assoumanou is the Trade, Investment, and Innovation Associate in the NYC Mayor's Office for International Affairs. In this role, he supports the Deputy Commissioner for Trade, Investment, and Innovation in executing strategic efforts to engage New York City with International businesses and trade commissions. He also facilitates partnerships and collaborations to promote economic growth and innovation within the city.
Prior to this role, Shaffiou worked as a Seasonal Project Manager within the Economic Development Department at the Stamford Government Center in Stamford, Connecticut. In this role, he worked with the Director of economic development and a team of four to manage and distribute the City of Stamford's $1.5 million COVID-19 relief grant to 176 small businesses impacted by COVID-19. In this role, Shaffiou also took on additional responsibilities, including assisting the Department with Business retention and expansion projects and building and maintaining meaningful relations with community-based and trade organizations.
Before working as a Seasonal Project Manager at the Stamford Government Center in Stamford, Connecticut, Shaffiou was a Senior Finance Associate at Prudential Financial, where he was primarily involved in Quarterly and Forecasting financial processes, monthly financial reporting, and working with initiatives owners. In this role, Shaffiou also assisted the team with the Transition Services Agreement (TSA) process as part of the Prudential Retirement business acquisition by Empower.
Shaffiou graduated from the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics and a minor in Political Science. Shaffiou is originally from Togo (West Africa) and resides in the Bronx.
