"We are proud to present an extended version of our “Office Hours” discussion series as part of the NYC Film Green program," said Commissioner for the NYC Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, Pat Swinney Kaufman. Mayor Adams, the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, and other members of the administration have collaborated on new initiatives that support sustainability, not only on film sets but in everyday life, as outlined in the city’s strategic climate plan, PlayNYC: Getting Sustainability Done, and the Green Economy Action Plan, which look to pave the way for over 400,000 "green collar" jobs in New York City by 2040.
Under the Adams administration, MOME has worked to support NYC’s world-renowned creative industries as they prioritize sustainability, including a partnership with DCLA to fund two new positions at Materials for the Arts in support of their mission to keep valuable materials out of landfills and back into the hands of New Yorkers; attendance at the unveiling of the city’s first gas station to offer renewable diesel fuel along with members of Sprague Energy, Empire Clean and Teamsters Local 817; and with NYC Schools the Minecraft Education Battle of the Boroughs Mayor’s Cup which challenges students in shaping the future of their city and reaching its sustainability goals.

"Our partnership with MOME to increase material donations from the city's film, tv, and theater communities to Materials for the Arts is a model for how we can work together to foster a cleaner, greener, more creative New York City. Thanks to our partnership, props, wardrobe, and other items that might have otherwise gone to the landfill are given a second life as creative inspiration - and FREE donations - for artists, educators, and cultural workers across the city."
