Mayor Eric Adams hosted a gathering at Gracie Mansion to celebrate the NYC Junior Ambassadors, participants in a program which teaches students about global issues and the United Nations.
The program began with Deputy Commissioner for the Mayor's Office for International Affairs, Aissata Camara, giving opening remarks and introducing Commissioner Edward Mermelstein to the stage. Mayor Adams then spoke with the students about what it means to be an ambassador, encouraging them to participate in conversation with him. He detailed the many ways they could be an ambassador not just on a large international level, but within their own small communities. He then presented the student representatives with certificates. Educator Michelle Ciccone and student Lamont Jackson, Jr. delivered speeches on behalf of their fellow students and educators.
