Health Benefits Buy-Out Waiver

If you are covered under a health insurance plan through other than the City of New York employer or through your spouse's health plan, you may waive your City health insurance and receive a cash incentive.

Once enrolled in the Health Benefits Buy-Out Waiver Program, you will receive your cash incentive payments in two taxable installments each year, one in June and the other in December.

For Plan Year 2023, the annual incentive payments are:

• $1,000 for waiving family coverage
• $500 for waiving individual coverage

Payments for the Health Benefits Buy-Out Waiver Program are included in your taxable wages in Box 1 of your W-2.
