IDNYC

IDNYC is the new, free identification card for all New York City residents and will give every New Yorker the peace of mind they need to demonstrate who they are—a New Yorker.  IDNYC benefits every city resident, including the most vulnerable communities – the homeless, youth, the elderly, undocumented immigrants, the formerly incarcerated, and others who may have difficulty obtaining other government-issued ID.

New York City card holders can access services, programs, and benefits offered by the City as well as the private sector. The ID card will help enhance public safety, by serving as a recognized ID for interacting with NYPD. Having an ID can allow a police officer to reduce measures from an arrest to issuing a summons. It will also help New Yorkers gain access to all City buildings providing services to the public and will serve as an ID to qualify for numerous City-run programs. In addition to services, the IDNYC card will provide a series of benefits to ID card holders, including a free one-year membership at several of the City’s leading museums, zoos, concert halls, and botanical gardens.
