The Young Adult Success Corps (YASC) provides a great opportunity for young adults to serve their city and gain important life skills. As YASC members, young adults age 18 to 24 who are on probation spend six to ten months working for local community organizations and city agencies around the city, to identify and support New York City’s most Vulnerable residents. As part of the National Community Service Family, clients are AmeriCorps members and are eligible for a living stipend, a monthly MetroCard for transportation and an educational Segal grant to attend higher education, technical trade school or certification programs, upon completion of their service term.
Joining YASC is about making things better for fellow New Yorkers. But it’s also about growing personally and professionally. All year long, YASC members develop work readiness skills, get coaching and counseling, and explore potential career and educational paths—all of which can lead to a better future. YASC members are able to give back to their community, identify resources to redress some of New York City’s most vulnerable populations.
