A group of neighbors working together to support each other through COVID-19 and beyond. We are a grassroots group of volunteers who work together out of a belief that our community is safer when we take care of each other. On alternating Mondays, we distribute pre-packed bags of groceries. The other weeks are free lunches and bread.
A sliding scale grocery delivery, starting at $0. Subscribe for a Lifeline grocery box and have fresh, affordable groceries delivered or available for pick up. Pay what you choose for a base produce box – $25, $35, or $45. Any box from $35 or more supports low cost & $0 grocery distribution to food insecure families in Queens.
Their mission is to address emergency hunger and the related health issues faced daily by low-income families. Hour Children Community Outreach provides a client-choice supermarket style food pantry organized to match the color coding of the USDA food pyramid’s food groups. The pantry is the Long Island City hub-site of the Local Produce Link Program (LPL), which delivers 200 lbs a week of organic, locally-grown, fresh produce from the Farm at Miller’s Crossing.
Community Food Connection (CFC)
HRA’s Community Food Connection (CFC), formerly known as the Emergency Food Assistance Program (EFAP), provides funding to more than 500 community kitchens and food pantries citywide. If you need food, you can get help today at one of New York City’s food pantries, which provide groceries to cook at home, or community kitchens, which provide hot meals.
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
Provides food assistance for nearly 1.8 million low-income New Yorkers including families, people who are aging and people with disabilities. The program helps families and individuals supplement the cost of their diet with nutritious foods.

Legal Services NYC was founded in 1968 as part of the War on Poverty. What started as a loose confederation of neighborhood-based legal services programs has grown into the nation’s largest civil legal services provider. Our citywide force of over 500 staff helps more than 110,000 low-income New Yorkers annually.

Friendly Visiting Program for Older Adults
The Department for the Aging, in partnership with Citymeals on Wheels, offers a Friendly Visiting Program specifically for older adults aged 60 or older who have difficulty leaving their homes. The program matches older adults with a volunteer who will visit them at home on a regular basis. The older adult and the volunteer will have an opportunity to spend time sharing common interests, ideas, opinions, and experiences. Call 212-AGING-NYC (212-244-6469).
