The following reports contain information on incidents that resulted in a fatality or injury to an individual and were reported to the Department pursuant to Local Law 78 of 2017:
These reports contain information on the number of accidents at construction sites, which are incidents where there has been an injury or fatality, occurring on a construction site (with or without work permit) or caused by construction activity on an adjoining site.
Excavation/Soil Work – Failure caused by soil-related operations and/or related means and methods. Failure of machinery used in such operations is to be included in Mechanical Construction Equipment.
Material Fell – Drop, displacement or failure of material or building element from its intended position or location. Included in this category are imminent material displacements, fall or failure.
Mechanical Construction Equipment – Failure or misuse of machinery and equipment systems. This category includes all machinery or equipment driven by mechanical or electrical devices for earth work, cranes, hoists, and demolition equipment.
Scaffold/Shed/Fence/Shoring Installation – Failure of site protection, temporary support and access installations; this category also includes both supported and suspended scaffolds.
Worker Fell – Accidents where a worker's fall was not caused by material failure or construction equipment failure. Included in this category are accidents due to worker inattention, error or where the worker's protection equipment failed (e.g. harnesses).
Other Construction Related Incidents – Included in this category is any construction accident that cannot be categorized in any of the previous categories.
OSHA Construction Fatalities – New York City (5 boroughs) data by Federal fiscal year (October 1 – September 30); OSHA tracks fatalities from transit and roadway projects, as well as health emergencies, that are not in DOB’s jurisdiction.
The Accident Summary Report is a summary of calendar year-to-date accidents. The Detailed Monthly Report is a list of all accidents for the reported month and includes the accident date, address, a description of the accident, owner name, contractor name, and violations issued.
