Boilers are generally installed in a building to produce heat to supply a mechanical system (heat or hot water) or for processing (laundries, distilleries, HRSG, etc.). Typical boiler work involves installation, maintenance, repair, or modification to a building’s boiler system. See the NYC Administrative Code Chapter 4, Article 401.
Boiler system work can involve any components under equipment, fuel sources, piping and/or exhaust or a combination of these systems. The scope of Boiler System Work may include any of the following major subsystems:
