Older Adult Liaisons in Every Precinct & Police Service Area

  • The New York Police Department (NYPD) has designated Older Adult Liaisons for each of the 77 NYPD Precincts and 9 Police Service Areas.
  • The Liaisons will be the contact person in each command for issues concerning older adults and will provide assistance when appropriate.
  • The Older Adult Liaisons will work to enhance public safety and better support older New Yorkers in identifying elder abuse, complaints, and crime patterns.

Older Adult Awareness & Response Training

  • An Elder Justice Officer Training Video has been created to train officers in identifying cases of elder abuse and to provide Elder Justice Resources for NYPD officers to use and make referrals to.
  • The video will work to increase officer awareness of elder abuse & how to address cases to protect vulnerable older adults.
  • The training video has been mandated for all uniformed NYPD Police officers.

NYC Housing Authority (NYCHA) & NYC Police Department (NYPD) Older Adult Liaison Community Partnership

  • To connect NYPD Older Adult Liaisons with NYCHA’s Older Adult population and NYCHA Elderly Safe-at-Home personnel & communities.
  • This connection will work to enhance public safety for older adult residents in NYCHA communities through NYPD liaison partnerships.
  • There will be joint workshops with NYCHA & NYPD to educate older adults on areas such as reporting incidents, financial exploitation, & other topics.
