Annual DSNY & Non-DSNY Collection & Diversion Totals

DSNY reports on all curbside and institutional refuse and recycling collection, as well as additional tonnage managed by DSNY and diverted through other mechanisms. To calculate the department's overall annual diversion percentage, we include all recyclable materials collected as part of the public space recycling programs. These diverted materials including textile & used materials donations, e-waste, hazardous waste, other organics collections, redeemed bottle & can deposit containers, and other take-back and diversion programs.

NOTE: Tonnage numbers from external organizations are reported as provided and cannot be verified by DSNY.
