New York City Law Department Appoints Nancy Savasta as Chief of the New Risk Management Division

New York City Corporation Counsel Sylvia O. Hinds-Radix today announced the appointment of Nancy Savasta as Chief of the Law Department's Risk Management Division. The newly-created Division will assist agency partners in identifying and mitigating risks to decrease the potential for harm to the City's residents and visitors while protecting the City financially.

"Throughout her career, Nancy has demonstrated excellent leadership and problem-solving abilities that are pivotal to our work protecting the City's interests. Her experience will be invaluable as we build the new Risk Management Division," said New York City Corporation Counsel Sylvia Hinds-Radix.

Savasta began her career at the Law Department in 2002 and brings over two decades of legal and risk management experience to the position. Prior to her appointment, she led the Risk Management Unit within the Law Department's Tort Division, where she also served as Deputy Chief. Before coming to the Law Department, Savasta held the position of Vice President at Allegient Systems, a litigation risk management company, and worked on commercial litigation as an attorney at Mound, Cotton & Wollan.

Savasta was the recipient of the Edith Spivack Award in 2009. She received her B.A. from SUNY Albany and her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School.
