The Mayor's Public Engagement Unit (PEU) and BronxNet are proud to present our new PSA, which aims to bridge the digital divide and foster inclusive internet access for all New Yorkers. Every New Yorker should have equal access to the vast opportunities the digital world offers and the resources listed here help make this a reality.

Big Apple Connect, launched by the Adams administration in September 2022, provides access to free in-home, high-speed internet and basic cable TV to 330,000 New Yorkers living across 220 NYCHA sites. Existing customers of Optimum and Spectrum living in NYCHA developments where Big Apple Connect is active are automatically enrolled in the program and are only billed for additional services they choose to purchase directly. Residents without existing service can sign up directly though Optimum or Spectrum or may attend on-site enrollment events conducted by the companies in partnership with the New York City Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI). Public libraries are not just places to borrow books – they are your partners in the digital world! Public libraries in NYC are vital digital hubs offering free internet access, digital literacy programs,and resource centers with computers, printers, and more available for use. BronxNet is a public-access community media center that has been providing students and the public at large with media education and access to technology, studios, and services for over thirty years.

About the Artist

Jon Frier is an animator and model maker specializing in stop motion animation. He has worked for brands, bands, and more. Jon has also produced his own stop-motion short films which have been shown at many renowned film festivals such as Fantastic Fest, the Brooklyn Film Festival, the Maryland Film Festival, and many others. He is one of ten artists who created innovative media arts projects at BronxNet, thanks to a generous grant from the artist economy development initiative Creatives Rebuild New York (CRNY).
