Coming Soon- Central Communications Hub: Connecting Nonprofits with the Heart of the City

In 2024, MONS is launching a Central Communications Hub to improve communication with the nonprofit sector and boost its influence within City agencies and mayoral offices.


Background:

MONS recognizes the challenges of decentralized communication and aims to be the central point of contact for nonprofits. Acting as both a communicator and "ombudsperson," MONS ensures transparency, accountability, and a direct line for nonprofits to share feedback.


Our Tasks:

Routinely Convene Nonprofits:

  • Regular meetings with nonprofit leaders for collaboration on emerging issues and citywide initiatives.
  • Prioritizing transparency, insights gathered from the sector will shape policy and programmatic changes.

Distribute Informational Bulletin:

  • Monthly bulletin with updates on local, state, and federal policies affecting nonprofits.
  • MONS aims to be the go-to source for City agencies, collaborating with advisory boards and nonprofit affiliates.

Serve as "Ombudsperson":

  • Systematically gather and synthesize feedback from the sector, addressing concerns, questions, and ideas.
  • Acting as a conduit for nonprofit voices, MONS holds the City accountable for its commitment to strengthen partnerships.

Action-Oriented Research and Evidence Based Policy Recommendations:

  • Analyze Large-Scale Policy Challenges:
    • Collaborate with City government, nonprofits, and thought leaders from across sectors to identify and improve outdated, inequitable, and challenging City policies and practices that constrain nonprofits in their mission to serve.
    • Offer insights to contribute to informed policy decisions and enhance collaboration with nonprofits.
  • Identify Opportunities for Innovation:
    • Conceptualize and conduct research to understand emerging challenges and opportunities to bolster nonprofit organizations and to support the sector.
    • Collaborate on specific issues affecting nonprofits that perpetuate disparities and inequities.
