The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) offers for rent commercial store space for retail and professional uses.
NYCHA has a portfolio of over 100 rentable commercial store spaces. These are located in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. These spaces house businesses that provide a wide range of goods and services to residents and to the broader community. Typical businesses include delis; beauty salons and barber shops; laundries/dry cleaners; pharmacies; super/mini markets; and medical offices. NYCHA does not approve new applications for uses that intend consumption of alcohol served at a bar; liquor stores; art galleries; pawn shops or “gold exchanges”; tobacco or smoke shops; cannabis sales; e-bikes or other motorized transportation and new “wet” uses (restaurant and laundromat uses are allowed in locations where the infrastructure for such uses already is in place).
NYCHA offers market competitive rents, negotiable terms and attractive incentives for substantial renovations. Stores vary in size from 400 to 10,000 square feet, and opportunities may exist for combining smaller stores to meet a specific need.
