Dementia care at Coler Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center includes innovative treatments and amenities:

• Music and memory program. Using iPods, we provide residents with playlists of favorite music.
• Specialized physical therapy. Using a technique called passive strengthening, residents may be able to increase their physical strength by doing special exercises with arm and leg weights.
• Specially trained staff.  Knowledgable of the most recent innovations in dementia care.

Our dementia care program anticipates residents’ changing needs and introduces new therapies as needed. Our dedicated dementia care nurses have specialized training and years of experience helping residents maintain their independence, even as their condition progresses.

Our goal is to make sure residents always feel engaged, safe and comfortable. If we notice changes in behavior, we may work with our on-site psychologist and psychiatrist to adjust treatments or introduce new forms of support.

Each personalized dementia care program may include:

• Visits with doctors and therapists to assess your level of functioning
• Daily routines to make sure you are eating, sleeping, and engaging in activities at regularly scheduled times
• Recreational therapies such as art class and social gatherings
