Report a Death

Navigating the loss of a loved one is difficult. To report a death of a BERS Member or Retiree please contact our Call Center at 929-305-3800 or send us an email at brespon@bers.nyc.gov.

Once a death is reported, our Death Benefits Unit will review the information and contact the designated beneficiaries to begin processing benefits. If the deceased person was a Retiree of BERS, you must contact us as soon as possible.
