C40 is a network of mayors of the world's leading cities that are united in action to confront the climate crisis. As a network member, New York City is committed to using an inclusive, science-based and collaborative approach to cut their fair share of emissions in half by 2030, help the world limit global heating to 1.5°C, and build healthy, equitable and resilient communities.
Through C40, NYC is also a signatory of the Good Food Cities Accelerator Program. Cities committing to this accelerator work with residents to achieve a ‘Planetary Health Diet’ for all by 2030, with balanced and nutritious food, reflective of the culture, geography, and demography of their residents. Through NYC’s Good Food Purchasing program and our call for private sector partners to join the Plant-Powered Carbon Challenge, we are leading the way in ensuring that our procurement policies work toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions and meet the goals of the C40 network.
