What are the EHSDAs All About?

Every day, nonprofits and city agencies work hard to make sure New Yorkers get the services they need. The Excellence in Human Service Delivery Awards (EHSDA) celebrate those nonprofits who are raising the bar. Whether they’ve cut through red tape, introduced new ideas, or simply get it when it comes to supporting their community—this is your chance to show them some love.

On May 8, 2025, we’ll honor this year’s winners in a special event filled with recognition, celebration, and connection.

If you work for a city agency and want to nominate a nonprofit doing game-changing work, this one’s for you. Use this form to nominate a nonprofit today!

You can shine a light on nonprofits that are:

  • Pushing the envelope with creative solutions
  • Nailing service delivery and making measurable impact
  • Building strong, transparent operations
  • Or are newer, smaller nonprofits already making big waves

Award Categories include:

  • Action & Innovation Award - For nonprofits that turn bold ideas into real results. This award honors creative, forward-thinking solutions that improve how you work or serve your community.
  • Operational Excellence Award - For organizations that run like a well-oiled machine. We’re celebrating strong systems, smart financial management, and best-in-class operations.
  • Excellence in Service Delivery Award - For nonprofits that consistently go the extra mile. This award recognizes outstanding service, real impact, and deep dedication to New Yorkers.
  • Emerging Nonprofit Award - For new, nonprofits who receive city funding (under 5 years old with budgets under $1M) led by leaders who are already making a big impact and showing serious promise for the future.

All nominated nonprofits must be registered 501(c)(3)s with an active city contract, grant, or MOU in the past three years.

Why It Matters

These awards aren’t just trophies. They’re a chance to:

  • Celebrate public servants and nonprofits doing amazing work
  • Share what’s working so others can replicate it
  • Build momentum for better partnerships across the city
