Raymond Miller was appointed to the NYCHA Board by Mayor Eric Adams in January 2023. A lifelong NYCHA resident, Mr. Miller has lived at Manhattan’s Johnson Houses since 1984 and was previously a resident of Smith Houses, where he grew up.
Mr. Miller worked for the New York City Department of Probation (DOP) for more than 30 years, including 12 years as a supervising probation officer, before retiring in 2021. For nearly 20 years, he represented fellow DOP probation officers as a delegate to the United Probation Officers Association (UPOA). He previously served as a children’s services caseworker and as a foster care worker.
With his extensive experience in criminal justice, Mr. Miller has an interest in continuing to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and NYCHA residents as a member of the NYCHA Board. He is also focused on increasing programs and support for senior residents. Mr. Miller has assisted fellow residents with various issues throughout his career and believes the NYCHA Board offers him the opportunity to be a representative for all NYCHA residents.
Mr. Miller earned a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice planning and administration from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
